Open Debate
I love technology.
One of the bills the Legislature will be taking up as it comes off spring break this week is a proposal to open more of the sights and sounds of its sausage-making to the public at large. It calls for installing cameras in both legislative chambers to tape floor debates both for archival purposes and to provide live telecasts of proceedings over the Internet.

Perfect for those times when the US Senate is in yet another interminable quorum call and the House is discussing whether or not to rename a postal facility! :p
Indiana's general assembly is doing much the same thing this year, I've only tuned in for a little bit, though. I don't know why this should be the case, but State-level procedings always seem very tame compared to Congress!
Plus, Rep. Herseth (D-SD) isn't on Indiana Legislature TV, which is a loss, I feel. ;)
